Festival organisers Platform Live and Slammin Events have written to local residents outlining their plan to apply for a three-year events licence to host an 8,000-capacity dance music festival in the park.
Residents close to the park, located near to Ashton Gate Stadium in the South of Bristol, were told that the festival would be held on the 24th & 25th of July 2021.
Similar events, hosted by the same organisers, have been held at Motion since 2016, with its 2020 instalment being cancelled due to the pandemic. 2019’s line up saw names such as DJ EZ, Kings Of The Rollers, Headie One, Jaykae, Hazard, and KOAN Sound. The 2021 lineup is yet to be released.
"To be clear of our plans we are seeking an initial three-year licence, one weekend a year Friday to Sunday," the letter read. "Opening times of 12:00 until 22:30, apart from Sunday which would close at 22:00. We are not seeking to use the Friday night option for 2021. Our capacity would be 7,999 including staff."
Following the halt in festival and live music plans in the last 12 months, the organisers of Sequences Festival saw opportunity to hold the festival at an outside space, social distancing guidelines permitting.

If given the go ahead, the festival would take place on football pitches with the rest of the park remaining publicly open. The festival will run for two days this year, with plans to extend to a three-day event in later years with an increase of capacity to 10,000.
Developments in event planning are welcome news to musicians and music lovers in and around Bristol as normality slowly eases into place.
