The page's fundraiser got a positive reception from students, with one calling it 'the most wholesome thing I've seen all year'

Bristol students have donated £650 to an NHS fundraiser set up by student confessions page Bristruths, after the page claimed in a joke update that it was to become a subscription service charging £5 a month.

The post contained a concealed link to to a JustGiving Page, encouraging users to give the £5 they would have spent on a 'Bristruths subscription' to NHS Charities Together - an organisation representing over 250 NHS charities across the UK.

The page's admins said: 'this cause was selected after receving hundreds of submissions regarding Covid-19 on the Bristruths submissions site.

We feel that this is the right way to celebrate April Fools Day in the light of what's going on; whilst using the platform to its full extent.

We hope to raise more money in future and support the values and causes that matter to Bristol Students the most.'

Originally posted at 9.30am this morning, the fundraiser had received over £500 by 1pm, with Bristruths itself donating £50 to the cause.

The fundraiser can be accessed here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bristruths-nhs?fbclid=IwAR0g4bsY-f-XflIS3vOGxvjnzip4ysjofr4xgtpL8BWiMQGNywZp0Loy0fo and will remain open for donations for a week.
