The University is now providing a free online feedback service for final year undergraduates, to help provide essay feedback and advice.
Bristol University has introduced a new online study skills service, available for free to final year undergraduate students. Studiosity is a service enabling students to gain fast feedback on essays and other University work.
Students can use the 'Writing Feedback' service, which 'offers constructive writing feedback in less than 24 hours'. Or for more immediate help they can use the 'Connect Live' service, which allows you to ask one of the Studiosity experts a question 'in the interactive classroom' by using 'chat, collaborative whiteboard, and file sharing'.
Judith Squires, Pro-Chancellor for Education and Students said:
'We are pleased to introduce this additional form of feedback, which we are piloting in response to student requests.'
Epigram spoke to some final year undergraduates to see what they thought of the new scheme.
Several students have said they were not even aware of the existence of Studiosity. Nikki Peach, final year English, stated:
'That sounds like a good idea and I'm sure I'd find it helpful but, as per usual, I had never heard of this before.'
Third year undergraduates, Jecca Powell and Ruby Rosenthal, reiterated that they had also not heard of the initiative but thought that it sounded 'interesting' and 'helpful'.
Mitchell May, a 3rd year English student, had seen Studiosity on blackboard, however said I haven't used it as I prefer to get advice from subject tutors and my personal tutor about essay writing.'
He went on to add: 'I'm a bit sceptical of tools like this one and Grammarly because I'd rather learn how to write well myself than still be relying on help all the time. But I haven't looked into Studiosity - maybe that's a bit ignorant of me.'
