Preview: Love Saves The Day 2025

The one weekend a year where University of Bristol students can empty their wardrobes in search of their most outrageous outfits, all in the name of Love.

By Zoe Liberman, Second Year English

It’s a love affair for the ages, the tale of Bristolians (and honorary Bristolians) and the sacred DJs. The affair in question: Love Saves The Day.

This year the affair goads even more exclusivity. With headline names such as Giggs and Nia Archives, the festival is using its prestigious status to attract artists from across the musical sphere, guaranteeing a day of sunshine, smiles, and some serious gun fingers.

Garnering hype through preemptive culinary collaborations between local restaurants Oowee, and now Pizzarova, the hype for this year's lineup is palpable as Bristol braces itself for one of the bassiest Summers on record.

From dubstep and garage to the weird and wonderful sounds of all walks of electronic music, Love Saves is a consumation of the DJ scene that the city is so well-beloved for by its hedonistic students. This year's acts are no exception to the rule.

Overmono

The Welsh duo have taken the garage and techno scene by storm in the past several years, developing a cult following after the release of their 2023 debut album Good Lies and a more recent secret pop-up show in Bristol to announce their new lager.

Having preemptively teased new material at the show and their exclusive Love Inn set, Truss and Tessela are perfectly situated for an exciting headlining set on Saturday. Make sure to wear some serious footwear, your feet will thank you after all that dancing.

Jyoty

With over 4 million views on her 2019 Boiler Room set, Jyoty has gained an enormous following amongst dance and club enthusiasts. Defying genre boxing, she seamlessly weaves across continents to create a cultural sound that combines dancehall, R&B, garage and hip-hop, serving sets which are as close to a spiritual entire experience as you’re going without booking a bank-breaking flight to Bali.

Nia Archives

Is an introduction really needed? The northern Queen of Jungle is blessing us with her presence in preparation for her 2025 global tour in which she will honour the likes of Boomtown, All Points East, Belgium and the Netherlands.

To hear her unique new-gen jungle sound, show up with some energy on Sunday. Just don't be afraid to get emotional in the crowd too. After all, it's the perfect place to release those Forbidden Feelingz before we head home for the Summer holidays.

Giggs

Including some classic grime artists in their 2025 lineup, Love Saves have got me on the edge of my seat to see Giggs on Saturday. Is there any other place like Ashton Court to honour our prised national anthem? (Obviously being ‘Talkin the Hardest’, not God Save The King).

Girls Don't Sync

Breaking into the music industry as a woman is never easy, even harder in the clubbing scene where large DJs are predominantly male, yet Girls Don’t Sync’s success has been iconic for precisely this reason.

Besides their raw talent, their positive and inclusive energy has proven key to the happy environment they foster on the dance floor. Catch the girls before they flee to Ibiza for the summer dance season!

Chris Stusy

Dutch legend Chris Stussy is returning to Bristol after his set at the soon-to-be closed Motion in March. His latest release ‘It’s About Us’ is expected to feature amongst his other anthems, ‘All Night Long’, ‘Desire’ and ‘Pumpin’. Stussy’s iconic basslines are guaranteed to have you pulsating – well worth the wait.

Shy FX

One of my favourite collaborators of all time, and an absolute British icon who unexpectedly pulled out from the Sunday lineup last year, the Original Nuttah returns to the stage to play his repertoire of jungle and D&B hits which range back to 1992. A veteran on the scene, we can all count on Shy FX to show the newbies how it’s done.

With an incredible line-up, and an even more incredible crowd, Love Saves The Day 2025 is set to excel standards. Make sure to stay hydrated and safe and most importantly enjoy yourselves: show these artists some much-deserved love and support!
