The University has been informed of the 'sudden death' of a fourth-year student, according to a statement.
The statement continues: 'We have spoken to [the student]'s family, who have requested privacy at this very difficult time. Our thoughts are with them.
We are not aware of any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and the Coroner will hold an inquest in due course.
'It is immensely distressing for members of our University community to learn that one of our students has died, and we know it will be especially difficult for those who knew and studied with [the student].
'We would encourage any students or staff who are affected by this tragic news to contact University support services as well as seek support from friends or family. Information about the help and support available can be found on our website under our staff and student pages.'
Most people who are thinking of taking their own life have shown warning signs beforehand.
These can include becoming depressed, showing sudden changes in behaviour, talking about wanting to die and feelings of hopelessness. These feelings do improve and can be treated.
If you are concerned about someone, or need help yourself, please contact the Samaritans on 116 123.
