The University will close from 2pm today (Thursday, 1st of March) until 5pm tomorrow (Friday, 2nd March) at the earliest, due to snow and ice warnings from the Met Office.
The severe weather is due to set in from this afternoon, with heavy snow and high winds coming from what the press are dubbing "The beast from the east"
In an email sent to all Bristol students, Registrar Robin Geller said "our decision is based on the expected impact of heavy snowfall, ice and high winds on our campuses, the transport infrastructure across the region and the subsequent inability of colleagues and students to travel safely to and from campuses"
Both the Clifton and Langford campuses will be closed for the rest of today and tomorrow.

"For coursework submissions due tomorrow, where possible please continue to submit these online. If you need to submit these in person or if the severe weather impacts on power, internet connectivity, etc., you will be given an equivalent compensatory extension to your deadline (the weekend is not counted for this purpose). Your School will confirm the details if this is the case."
Senate House Study Centre will remain open, and security services will remain in position.
