This November, Bristol’s Prospect Building will welcome SISTALAND, a community-built creative festival for women and non-binary creatives to celebrate and spotlight the innovative, yet underrepresented sectors of the industry.
Today marks the announcement of the first wave of the festival’s speakers, which include TV Presenter and survival expert Megan Hine (Bear Grylls: Mission Survive), acclaimed AAA game and screenwriter Kim MacAskill, and leading disability inclusion advocate and talent agent Abbie Hills (BBC, Netflix, Channel 4 and ITV).
A £380 million funding boost granted to creative businesses and industries across the UK as part of the Creative Industries Sector Plan is, on the surface, a cause for celebration. Rightfully so, SISTALAND asks the urgent question of who exactly is this money going to?
The festival welcomes a whopping 700 women from an eclectic range of creative sectors such as film, art, etc. for two days of provocative and inspiring talks and workshops, with the aim of networking with fellow creatives in a relatable and genuine way.
Day One: ‘Shake the System’
The first day of SISTALAND is designed to inspire and encourage creative individualism and pursuit, via a plethora of insightful panels and talks from industry professionals.
Day Two: ‘Power in the Process’
Following from day one, 'Power in the Process' homes in more on practical tools, transforming the previous day’s ideas into active creative work, strategy sessions and workshops.
This exciting newness to the first festival of its kind, coupled with the dazzling new Prospect Building that is still in its, albeit mighty, infancy, gives an air of tantalising anticipation around the project.
‘Challenging who gets to lead in creative industries’, SISTALAND is set to ignite an inspiration and drive in underrepresented female and non-binary sectors of the industry, to ask urgent questions of who holds control, and answering questions of who should.
Tickets can be found here, and the festival takes place on the 11th and 12th November 2025.
