Revised plans submitted for new Temple Quarter Campus

The University has submitted a revised masterplan for the new Temple Quarter Campus in response to feedback from Bristol City Council and other partners.

Plans for the new campus, which will be built on derelict land near Temple Meads station, have been adjusted to create improved access and functionality.

The new layout is designed to allow for easier navigation through the site, and to create more open and welcoming spaces for staff, students and the local community to enjoy.

The campus will now feature three buildings instead of four, and will include a flexible space that may be used in the future development of a new pedestrian entrance point.

Pedestrian, cycle and transport links have also been re-aligned in order to work with the new layout.

The University hopes that these changes will enhance connections with the waterfront, creating a more vibrant and exciting atmosphere on campus.

Patrick Finch, Bursar and Director of Estates for the University, said: ‘We have responded to feedback on our initial masterplan and have made some changes to the layout to make our public spaces even more welcoming and accessible and to allow for an improved future connection to Temple Meads station.

'We have responded to feedback on our initial masterplan'

‘Our illustrative masterplan, however, is not set in stone and will evolve during the design process as we work to create a new campus that is connected to the city and part of a vibrant new city quarter.

‘As the designs develop there will be many more opportunities for our partners and neighbours to engage with us and comment on our plans.’

The new masterplan has been submitted to Bristol City Council, and will be considered shortly.
