Detroit's Slum Village will join forces with Leeds-based Abstract Orchestra at Bristol's Trinity Centre on Thursday.
This Thursday, on the opening night of their UK tour, legendary hip-hop duo Slum Village are set to join forces with the 18-man strong Abstract Orchestra. With decades of experience, T3 and Young RJ will be bringing their distinctive, nurtured brand of old-skool, jazz-rap hip-hop to the stage of Bristol’s Trinity Centre. Previously, alongside ex-members Dilla and Baatin, the group have supported the likes of A Tribe Called Quest, and have worked with some of Hip-Hop’s biggest names; from D’Angelo to Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes.
The Orchestra will be enhancing Slum Village’s admired production, much of which is owed to the late J Dilla. The Leeds-born supergroup ‘strive to merge great musical arrangements with incredible Hip-hop from across the decades’, and have a solid track record in Bristol after selling out Marble Factory in November 2017, where they performed their seamless, critically acclaimed rendition of Madvillainy.
With tickets almost sold out, Thursday’s show is set to be an exciting twist on a wonderfully nostalgic set. Support will also be provided by local MC K*Ners.
