Gravity Nightclub announces closure due to financial struggles

The Triangle club announced its closure today (April 2) on Instagram as a result of financial struggles.
The announcement reveals that the landlord 'has elected to repurpose the premises', closing down the doors of the club with immediate effect.
In a statement on Instagram, the Gravity Nightclub team attributed the closure to 'increasing expenses tied to wages, regulatory fees' as well as the 'overarching costs' within the hospitality sector.
The site of the nightclub was previously home to nightclub Bunker from 2007, before becoming Gravity in 2017.
Since 2020, Gravity hosted Fishies on Wednesdays – a popular university sports night. It was also home to BED Mondays until it moved to Clock Factory in 2023.
Fishies Bristol announced in a post on Instagram that a 'new plaice will be announced' to host the club night.
The Gravity Nightclub team highlighted the challenges that the nightlife industry has faced in recent years, their club being 'no exception'.
Between March 2020 and December 2023, 35% of independent nightclub businesses were lost.
In Bristol, this has been felt since 2020 with the loss of student favourites such as Old Crown Courts and Blue Mountain.
In their farewell statement, the Gravity Nightclub team thanked all customers: 'We want to extend our deepest gratitude to every single person who has walked through our doors and the remarkable team members whose efforts propelled Gravity to be a landmark in Bristol’s night scene since our opening on Saturday, April 29, 2017.
'This farewell marks the end of a significant chapter.'
The announcement ends with the hashtag #SaveOurScene, an organisation which campaigns against closures within the UK's live music scene.
