Bristol Uni campus closed tomorrow due to Storm Eunice
By Megan Evans, News Editor
University of Bristol campus buildings will be largely closed tomorrow, February 18, due to the Met Office’s red weather warning for the Southwest of England.
In an email to all students this evening, the University of Bristol has announced that university campuses will be closed ‘for all non-essential activity’ tomorrow.
This closure comes as a result of the red weather warning issued for the Southwest of England ahead of Storm Eunice, with the Met Office warning of winds up to 90 mph in affected areas.
We are closing our campuses tomorrow (Friday 18 Feb) for all non-essential activity because of #StormEunice.

Students are expected to receive specific information from their Schools regarding teaching in the affected period, with the majority of departments stating intent to move sessions online.
University staff have been asked to work from home for all but ‘essential activities.’ However, with a large number of university staff members taking part in the ongoing UCU strike, some students may not receive information from striking tutors.
An email to Faculty of Arts undergraduates states that ‘some sessions would not have gone ahead anyway and you may not receive an email. The University does not require staff to reschedule strike impacted teaching,’ while an email to SPIAS students emphasises that alternative teaching arrangements will be made only for lectures and seminars ‘that [are] unaffected by the scheduled industrial action.’
The University states that ‘staff are ready to deal with any incidents that arise due to the storm such as power outages or damage to buildings.’ Students are encouraged to contact University Maintenance or Residence services to report any damage or problems.
The Bristol area is expected to be most severely affected from 7 AM to 12 noon tomorrow. Avon and Somerset police have asked members of the public to avoid travelling wherever possible at this time.
