The 18-year-old student, who is from China, was attacked on Rupert Street between 7:40pm and 8pm on September 27.
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed to Epigram today, October 30, that the individual is a University of Bristol student.
On October 29, the police released CCTV images of a person they would like to identify as part of their ongoing investigation, who the force believes ‘can assist with our enquiries’.
The student was taken to hospital for facial injuries, but has since been discharged and is recovering from home. Witnesses saw two girls spitting on her and kicking her multiple times in the head, according to Bristol24/7.
The person identified by the police is described as a short white woman, with blue hair, estimated to be in her 20s. She is pictured wearing a dark designer jacket with a black logo on the left sleeve, over a blue hooded top, with black trousers and white Crocs-style shoes.

The appeal to identify this person is part of the broader investigation which the police have been carrying out since the incident was reported to them.
Det Con Georgia Pearce said,
‘All initial lines of enquiry have been followed up and we are now seeking the public’s support because finding out who this woman is will help us to progress this investigation.’
Police have maintained contact with the victim since the incident and have worked with students and staff to address any concerns.
Anyone who recognises the woman pictured is asked to call the police on 101 quoting 5225271951, or complete the online appeals form. The link to the police's appeal page can be found here.
