It is likely that the student, who is reported to have returned from Shanghai three days ago, has a cold or the flu.

The University of Bristol has confirmed that a student taken to hospital yesterday, 30 January, has been tested for the Coronavirus, but that tests have come back negative.

The student has now been discharged from hospital and is likely to have a cold or the flu.

A University spokesperson said: 'We can confirm that the student taken to hospital last night has now been discharged and there was no diagnosis of Coronavirus.

'We are continuing to support the student, and remind staff and students of the advice from Public Health England.'

Yesterday, medics in hazmat suits and ambulances were seen at Wills Hall after a student was precautionarily taken to hospital after experiencing 'flu-like symptoms'.

Students at Wills Hall told Epigram that the student in question returned to Bristol from Shanghai three days ago.

The news follow the declaration of the coronavirus as a global health emergency by WHO.
