Show Of Hands Festival is a new independent music festival taking place in Somerset from the 22 May to Sunday, 24 May 2026 that describes itself as ‘A mind-melding mix of jazz, soul, global grooves, and forward thinking club sounds.' The multi-genre festival preview event took place on March 6th at the lively Jam Jar, attracting a huge turnout.
First up, Plantfood, the Leeds based 6-piece, started the night off with a hard-hitting jazz force which combined the elements of spiritual jazz with funkier heavier passages. A rare set, followed by Master Plan, the groovier soulful alias of DJ and producer Bakey, brought House-y tropical rhythms underlaid by his signature bass-heavy sound to warm up the party.

Next on the lineup was an incredible live set from the exciting young 5-piece, Kotoa, a band that encompasses Afrobeats, Dub, and Jazz and Soul. High energy, engaging and fun, Kotoa played their uplifting EP Earthwise - it was impossible not to get involved in the boogie! The sound, reminiscent of a warm summer evening, visibly brought the crowd together to connect within the music and dance.
The blissful atmosphere continued with a DJ set from the legendary record label Mr Bongo, celebrating deep-dug cuts, rare vinyl beats and classic Brazilian grooves. Irresistible eclectic healing! Finally, Drifty B2B Miss Mash brought the night to a close with a wholesome feel-good blend of vibrant and flavourful sounds ranging from samba to Afro-funk. People were smiling, hugging, dancing and loving - what more could you want!

Overall, it was a heartwarming, friendly night that represents what Show of Hands is all about: great independent music, prioritising community and championing creativity. The festival takes place over the late May bank holiday and the diverse line-up includes an exclusive set from General Levy, Lady Wray, A Guy Called Gerald, Submotion Orchestra, Jamz Supernova, TC & The Groove Family, Dele Sosimi, Romare (Live), Summer Pearl, and Sholto. The weekend also promises immersive activities including hot air ballooning and more information can be found at https://show-of-hands.net/, where tickets (including a discounted student ticket) can be purchased.
