IDLES make an anticipated return to their hometown to play The Downs festival, Francesca Frankis previews.
There's always something special about a band playing in their home town, and IDLES are no exception. Formed in Bristol back in 2009, the band didn't release their critically acclaimed debut Brutalism, until 2017. Just a year later and they returned with their sophomore album Joy as an Act of Resistance; A record discharging powerful messages about everything from Brexit to toxic masculinity.
Continually, IDLES reinstate the value of live performance within their craft. Frontman Joe Talbot fosters an incessant energy through his unique vocal style as the band dredge through their politically charged gigs. IDLES show at The Downs Festival won't be one to miss. Riding off the wave of what it means to play your hometown, they're guaranteed to put on a great performance full to the brim with ferocious guitar and a circuit of head pounding beats.
