Why did you decide to come to university? To make lifelong friends? To get obliterated at Wednesday Night socials?
It could have been a mix of both, or maybe you were a sensible 18 year old who actually considered life after Fishies. If so, you're probably in the midst of planning your career.
While you're still at university, you should make the most of every resource at your disposal – and that doesn't just mean the careers service. You might not have realised that across campus, various schools host career talks with industry experts throughout the year, and next up is 'How I Became a Professional Social Media Content Creator' from the Film & TV department.
Here's what you need to know:
Who?
Henry Kirkwood, Wildlife Director of Photography and Tod Todeschini, Historical Weapons Expert.
Henry began posting to social media after finding it difficult to break into established Natural History production companies. After some hard work and a lot of great shots of wildlife, he was able to leave his job as a building surveyor.
Tod worked in special effects for 25 years, and is passionate about researching and inventing weaponry, and making them look cool on camera. His videos have amassed millions of views.
What?
A conversation between Henry, Tod, and a member of the Film & TV faculty where you can learn how to make money on social media no matter what your discipline is. Discover how the pair went 'from social media novices to social media masters, creating and curating outstanding social media content that has generated buzz, followers, paid work, and direct sales'.
Where and when?
2pm, February 28 2024 in the Winston Theatre, the Richmond Building.
Cost
None! Just turn up.
