University of Bristol rower Robbie Prosser has taken gold in the U23 World Rowing Championships in Varese, Italy.
On Friday, The GB athlete and his crew set a record-breaking time of 6.02.90 in the 'Coxed Fours' event, a shade under the previous record of 6:03.01.
Even more impressively, this was five seconds quicker than the time they recorded in their heat on Tuesday.

Robbie, who is studying for a degree in Applied Anatomy at the University of Bristol, has overcome numerous challenges to reach this point. His stature – although substantial in the minds of most – is considered small in the rowing world.
On top of this, he contracted a virus during the GB team trials at Henley. Fortunately, after the trails were re-called, Robbie returned to the boat and made the team.
Robbie’s professionalism and determination prompted the Head Rowing Coach at the University, Ed Bloomfield, to label him as “Easily the best athlete I’ve ever worked with”.
