Picnic chic

The Croft Magazine // As Spring has arrived, most of us will be heading to Bristol’s green spots. With the British weather being mythically unpredictable, however, and everyone going wild as lockdown ends, here is a list of picnic-orientated outfits to suit different vibes and cloudy or sunny skies.

The Croft Magazine // As spring has arrived, most of us will be heading to Bristol’s green spots; College Green, Ashton Court, the Downs. With everyone going wild as lockdown ends, here is a list of picnic-orientated outfits to suit different vibes - cloudy or sunny skies.

Look 1

When it’s super hot outside and you’re on the verge of feeling disgustingly sweaty, a loose, white, cotton mini dress like this will be your saviour. It's really simple and slightly glamorous, perfect for looking cool whilst staying cool.

ASOS DESIGN denim pinny with frill sleeves in white, £35 | ASOS

To compliment the laid-back sophistication of the dress you could wear a small over-the-shoulder bag, in an interesting colour or print. It’s also good to travel light in hot weather!

UO Yas Contrast Stitch Faux Croc Shoulder Bag, £29 | Urban Outfitters

You will look hot to trot around the grounds of Ashton Court, but if you really want that daddy’s money, dutty track, ‘where’s my baccy?’ look - go over the top with gold jewellery and add classic Air Force 1s.

Nike Air Force 1 '07 Trainers In Black, £89.95 | ASOS

Look 2

When it’s snowing one weekend in April and twenty degrees the next (RIP our planet <3), its important to be prepared for unexpected weather. So, when it’s a bit breezier outside - these brown flare jeans and bustier top make a stylish comfortable look that you can easily throw a jumper over.

Reclaimed Vintage inspired The '99 flare jean in washed sand, £35 | ASOS
UO Ava Lace & Satin Mint Corset Top, £36 | Urban Outfitters

Look 3

Picnic parties seem to be a popular choice as we come out of lockdown. This dress is a good choice if you fantasise about frolicking barefoot in the woods - it’s very delicate. You can give it an edge and make it more glam with seventies style sandals and over the top jewellery.

ASOS DESIGN satin midi dress with lace trim detail and button front in floral print, £40 | ASOS

You’ll probably take these shoes off before you sit down, but oh well- the catwalk you make across the downs to a picnic blanket (in the least muddy spot) will make it all worth it.

Elsa Wide Fit Black PU Ruched Block Heeled Mules, £29.99 | Public Desire

As Horatio divulges into telling you about the family estate, make sure you’re able to keep up with the highbrow convo by keeping warm and awake. Take this bottle alongside the barefoot to stay hydrated, and this jacket to keep cosy into the night.

Chilly’s Bright Yellow 500ml Stainless Steel Water Bottle, £15 | Urban Outfitters
Patent Faux Leather Longline Belted Jacket | Nasty Gal
