Whether you’ve just started as a first year student at the university, or have been here for a few years now, there are a range of roles currently looking to be filled in the latest SU election. Every student is eligible for at least one role! Here are just some of the reasons why you should consider running to be a student rep:
The people
As a rep you will be given the opportunity to meet, network and work with key members of staff in the university. You can learn a lot from the meetings you attend and will gain an insight into how things work. You’ll also be part of a wider representative community which will provide you with plenty of opportunity to meet and make friends with other students.
Developing skills
You will get training to help support you in your role, as well as access to training to help you develop transferable skills. From teamwork to communication, there are plenty of key skills that you can develop while working in a rep role.

Become more employable
With all those skills you’ll be developing, you’ll be fully prepared to take on the wider world and job applications. Your CV will look great and you can get recognition from the SU team on LinkedIn.
Make positive change
From campaigning to get a new bus running between Bristol Veterinary School at Langford and the Clifton university campus, to reinstating the university Financial Times subscription, our reps have been involved in a number of exciting opportunities to make sure that you get the most from your university experience.
Free Food
Pizza is often joked about as a great reason to be a rep, but pizza isn’t to be taken lightly! From free pizza at democratic events to sandwiches at university meetings – you won’t go hungry as a rep!
You can either nominate yourself or recommend a friend from Monday 24th September to Monday 15th October (9am-9am).
Voting will take place from Tuesday 16 October to Friday 19th October (12pm-12pm).
