'Finally transitioning from covers to her own music', GEORGIE will be supporting Jake Bugg at Colston Hall this month.
Having grown up in a house where music was constantly played, GEORGIE is trying her hand at becoming one of the musical greats like her inspirations Carole King, Janis Joplin and Aretha Franklin, strong women she considers to be in ‘that untouchable league of greatness’. Her own musical ability, which manifested as learning covers before writing her own songs, was triggered by the ‘King of Rock and Roll’ himself, Elvis Presley. Perhaps this is why critics describe her sound as quirky and sultry with an attitude of rock and roll whilst GEORGIE herself prefers not to label her sound as a specific genre, merely stating that it is an honest reflection.
GEORGIE is lucky enough to be supporting Jake Bugg yet again on his 2018 tour after joining him for the previous two tours, having met gigging in London originally. They have only just finished gigging in old theatres and churches within Europe. Not long ago, GEORGIE performed as part of the memorable ‘Beat the Streets’ festival which aims to raise money for the homeless across Nottingham.
She recently released the single ‘Hard Times’ which focuses on the struggles that individuals may face throughout their life. The verse about struggling at university will ring a bell with much of her audience when she performs in Bristol on the 24th of this month. The song was written with a close friend and writing partner, making the lyrics personal yet reminiscent for anyone who listens.
Music has clearly always played a large roll in GEORGIE’s life and she appears to be finally transitioning from covers to her own music, a welcome change which will no doubt set her in good stead as she completes the tour.
