Good evening all and welcome to quite possibly the most anticipated Academy Awards of the post-Covid age. Is it just me or does this year have all the trappings of a La La Land (2016) versus Moonlight (2016) showdown rewritten in the striking contours of Sinners (2025) and One Battle After Another (2025). Pretty much every single category tonight is too close to call, unless you're Jessie Buckley. The entire ballet and opera community are fiercely crossing their fingers and pointed toes for Timothée Chalamet to come home empty handed (prepare for a lot of Timmy talk tonight folks, apologies), while Amy Madigan could put some proper critical acclaim on the horror genre. It is all to play for. It is time for the 98th Academy Awards.
