‘New Venue, Same Energy’ claims Motion, introducing its new event series, ‘Momentum’, that is set to carry the torch of the iconic high-energy nightclub, all just seconds from its original location.
To the dismay of many club-goers and electronic music enthusiasts, Motion waved goodbye to Bristol in July after a whopping 21 years in the game, due to impending lease expiration and a lack of funding to keep its doors open.
After mourning raves in the albeit shady warehouse arena to the extent of hosting a literal funeral outside its doors, Bristol’s club scene was left with a hole that many feared would never be filled.

In light of this news, and the rapid closure of nightclub and grassroots music venues across the country, a fundraising campaign titled ‘Keep Motion Moving’ was launched. The campaign called out to the community for support in relocating the club and rebuilding a sustainable events space that wasn’t at the mercy of lease pressures and financial hardships.
With a motto of ‘building community’ and ‘celebrating Bristol’, Motion is re-opening its doors just moments from where they had shut, in Unit 2 at Victoria Terrace, St Philips.
The new venue, retaining the same industrial, warehouse styles that Motion-lovers will be familiar with, is launching a new event series next weekend to celebrate this long-awaited move.
Motion’s aims with ‘Momentum’ are simple: to celebrate community both on the dancefloor and the stage — by providing opportunities for local artists as well as industry professionals in the hopes of recreating the hub of talent and inspiration that had Motion voted one of the best nightclubs in the world.
Each night will be meticulously crafted to conjoin both local acts and international talents to shine the spotlight on Bristol’s bustling scene and the wider world of electronic music that inspires it.
Next weekend (Friday 10th and Saturday 11th October) will see the opening of Motion 2.0 with two expertly lined up nights. Friday will see Y U QT, Chloé Robinson, LAMMER, and Lolli take to the new warehouse, whilst Saturday welcomes the likes of Skeptic, Osmosis Jones, IsGwan, SUFI, and V-PRIYA.
Following from this, ‘Momentum’ will continue to showcase this calibre of electronic acts throughout October to December. Details of which, and tickets to these events, can be found here.
