In the final days of his election-campaign, Jeremy Corbyn was at a Bristol Labour rally with Mayor Marvin Rees and Bristol West Labour candidate Thangam Debbonaire.
Four days ahead of the general election, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn arrived in Bristol in a last attempt to drum-up party support.
Addressing a crowd of hundreds congregated outside City Hall on College Green, Corbyn reemphasised his spending and tax hike plans.
Appealing to the students in attendance, he restated his intention to abolish University fees: ‘I want our young people to be able to make a choice of whether they go to University, not a choice of how much debt they are going to get into.
‘Our national education service will properly fund education, end student fees and we will raise the tax necessary to do it.’
While talking about the threat of a re-elected Tory government throughout, he closed his speech by saying ‘the real threat that faces every one of us on this wonderful green here in Bristol is the threat to our natural world and environment through global warming.
‘It is my lifetime determination to defend our natural world and environment and our manifesto promises a green industrial revolution.’
Bristol Mayor Marvin Rees and Bristol West Labour candidate Thangam Debbonaire gave opening speeches encouraging supporters to continue campaigning until the vote on Thursday night.
