This Halloween, Bristol remains active as ever, with something for everyone. Whether you’re into the scary side, or use Halloween as more of an excuse to party, there is all sorts happening this spooky season.
With autumn comes the return of warehouse season for ravers and Bristol, as always, has a massive (if overwhelming) selection of events to choose from. Probably the most talked about is the return of 4am Kru to Bristol on Halloween. This time they’re coming to The Prospect Building for their Halloween Carnival Of The Dead. A collaboration with The Blast and Love Saves the Day, this event is bound to be electric. The first wave of tickets have sold out currently, but if your FOMO is too much, there is a second wave on The Prospect Building website (but be prepared to pay a pretty penny).

Lakota is also hosting two main Halloween events- Cirque Du Soul and The Haunted House Party on Halloween. This is especially exciting as during the summer it underwent a revamp, including the addition of an upgraded lighting and sound system. As usual, some events at Lakota are free entry before 23:00 but this will book up quickly! If Lakota is somewhere you have only been to in Freshers' Week, and you're looking for a Free Rave, Halloween is the time to check it out.
As well as this there is Hedex at Document, Egyptian Lover at Saw Mills and a Lost Track of Time Halloween experience at the immersive Wake the Tiger. Tickets for these vary in price from £18 to £30, so more on the expensive side, especially compared to a club night, but they are bound to be a blast.
If raves are not your vibe, there is so much more to do in Bristol. If you are into horror then the Bristol Megascreen, formerly the Bristol IMAX and the largest screen in the city, is hosting the Forbidden Worlds Film Festival: The Big Scream, which takes place from 23rd of October to 24th of October. This event includes two nights dedicated to ‘fantasy, action, science-fiction and horror films from around the world and celebrating the people that made them.’ Found in Bristol Aquarium, this will honour the creepiest and most gruesome of what cinema has to offer.

If you want something to do on a tight student budget though, there is still plenty. You can have a movie night with your flatmates where the only expense is popcorn. Or you can host a BYOB Halloween house party, if your landlord is lax enough.

If you do end up needing a costume for the weekend, the first place to look is definitely fancy dress you or your flatmates already have from Wednesday socials. In your house there is likely to be a cowboy hat, wigs and animals ears somewhere, so do not be afraid to repurpose these.
If you are in need of something new, head to vintage or charity shops such as The Vintage Thrift Store on Park Street, Revival Market in Bedminster or Flamingos Vintage near Castle Park. Here you will find unique and cheap pieces, and these are especially good if you are shopping last minute as you don’t have to wait ages for shipping. A bonus is that you are recycling clothes we already have which is positive for the planet!
Bristol has so many cool events on this Halloween. But also, it is what you make it, so use it as an excuse to try something new.
