The Croft has been in operation since 2019, originally published as a general lifestyle pullout magazine in each issue of Epigram.
Over the years, The Croft has kept that lifestyle focus, but focused it into a unique aesthetic style, with each magazine full of sketches and artwork created by Croft contributors.
The latest fresher’s launch issue is full of articles on a wide range of questions – from discussion of who we dress for, to a deep dive into how coffee shapes university culture. Fitting with The Croft’s artistic style, the magazine’s contents are listed in the style of a dinner party, with the fashion article being the ‘entrée’.
The magazine also includes a thorough list of recommendations of pubs, cafes and shops from the Croft editorial team. However, the place The Croft would probably most recommend you to be at on October 2nd is a club called Basement 45.
The Croft’s launch parties are basically club nights. The Croft’s own DJ Celia Kelly will be occupying the same deck that once hosted Skrillex, playing tunes to party to far into the night, complimented by deals on drinks to keep you going.
The doors will open at Basement 45 at 9pm. The venue’s address is 8 Frogmore Street, at the bottom of Park Street. Doors open at 9pm, and the party finishes at 2am. Last entry is at midnight. Tickets can be purchased on the Bristol SU website here, for £5.
