Bristol music festival Tokyo World confirmed for September 2021

One of the city’s most celebrated music events has confirmed it will run as usual, following the announcement of the UK’s lockdown easing plans.
Organisers have announced that tickets for Tokyo World will go on sale on 8 March at 8 a.m.
The festival will take place in Eastville Park, a ten-minute drive from the city centre, over the weekend of 18-19 September.
Though the lineup is yet to be announced, organisers promise it’ll be ‘absolutely huge’ and ‘a very special reunion’. In the past, the festival has hosted some of the biggest names in electronica, neo-soul and UK Hip hop.
2019 saw headline sets from Craig David, Wilkinson and Gorgon City, alongside the likes of De La Soul and D-Block Europe.
The event’s website suggests that the infamous Tokyo World After Party will also be going ahead. The weekend is a prominent fixture of the student calendar: following the cancellation of Tokyo World 2020, the organisers promised to increase it’s capacity by 10,000 people to 25,000, due to the ‘high volume of tickets sold’. Whether capacity has actually been increased is yet to be confirmed.
The festival’s confirmation came alongside similar announcements from several other mainstays of the UK’s summer festival scene.
Both Reading and Leeds will go ahead as planned, as will Creamfields, Field Day, El Dorado, Latitude, Parklife and London’s Pride Festival.

Others music festivals are still unconfirmed. Following its cancellation last year, Boomtown Fair promised to return in 2021 with a revised layout, new storyline and reduced ticket prices.
Boomtown ‘Chapter One: The Gathering’ was set to run from 11-15 August, but is yet to give any announcement on whether it will run as usual.
