The University of Bristol ranked 14th overall in the The Times Good University Guide 2022 and 62nd in the QS world rankings.
Bristol University drops one ranking point from last year’s Times Good University Guide in which it ranked 13th.
Hugh Brady, The University’s Vice Chancellor and President, has said that the achievement ‘is a testament to the continual hard work of our staff.
‘I’d also like to thank our students, who have persevered with outstanding fortitude during what has been an unprecedented and challenging period,’ he continued.
Bristol’s research quality has maintained its stature as well, ranking 6 out of 127 in the Times Good University Guide.
The city of Bristol was also named the best place to live in Britain (2017) and has continued to be a cultural and political hub of the UK, even during lockdown.
Despite only dropping one place in its overall ranking, Bristol University ranked low in several other categories, including social inclusion and student satisfaction.
The Guide showed student satisfaction at Bristol to be low, ranking 80th out of 130 institutions. Similarly, the teaching was ranked in the bottom 50 per cent, at 89th.
The university ranked second to last (114th out of 116 institutions) in the social inclusion ranking for England and Wales and similarly for first generation students.
The state school admission ranking is also low, with UoB ranking 107th out of 116.
Of Bristol’s 2020 intake, 19.5 per cent of Home undergraduate students were from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic background, with 79.5 per cent of students coming from White backgrounds.
