Preview: Frank Turner & Arkells @ 02 Academy

With 7th album, Be More Kind, due for release on May 4th, folk-punk troubadour, Frank Turner, embarks on a sprawling and relentless tour of the U.K. with support from Canadian alt-rockers Arkells

Having released his debut album, Sleep Is For The Week, in 2007, Turner still well and truly embodies his very first album title. Throughout his highly successful solo career, Turner has conquered crowds all across the country, from playing at tiny open mic nights inside pubs that no longer exist, all the way to the hallowed grounds of Wembley Arena and the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony. Yet still to this day, one of the most hardworking artists within the U.K shows absolutely no signs of slowing down.

As part of a mighty tour that stretches far and wide across the whole country, Turner and his Sleeping Souls will be stopping off at Bristol's 02 Academy for a night of euphoric, heart-on-sleeve punk infused folk rock. In what amazingly will be Turner's 2,159th solo gig to date.

So, be sure to expect devastating mosh pits, beer cups flying and an overwhelming sense of camaraderie and pure elation. His Bristol gig may also see him at his most ferocious, especially having just released the politically charged 'Make America Great Again', in which the singer-songwriter gives a certain Mr Trump the finger.

Over a long decade as one of Britain's leading folk-punk and DIY voices, Turner has built up quite the anthemic live rock show. A rock show that promises an abundance of greatest hits, punk rock energy and more importantly, to get fans 'singing like the barricades are down and dancing like no one's around'.

Support for Frank Turner's eagerly anticipated sold out show at Bristol's 02 Academy, comes from Canadian alternative rock band, Arkells. While the band may be much bigger across the Atlantic, they are certain to dazzle the eager fans coming along earlier. Especially, with the release of their new horn infused political anthem, 'People's Champ', that seems almost purpose built for the dancefloor. So I'd greatly recommend heading to the 02 Academy early in order to catch the somewhat slick, produced and poppy Springsteen vibes of Canadian band, Arkells.
