16-year-old boy appears in court for stabbing Bristol student

A Bristol student, aged 19, suffered a stab wound to the back on Sunday in an assault and robbery which took place outside New Bridewell accommodation.
Epigram reported that five arrests were made in connection with the assault. Four of these teenagers have now been released under investigation.
A sixteen-year-old boy remains in custody and has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing a blade.
The weapon used was a seven-inch kitchen knife and the victim, named as Evgeniy Turapov, suffered a punctured lung as a result of the attack.

The accused has not been identified due to his age, but has also been charged with assualt and robbery relating to incidents on Saturday 2 March. He shall not be released on bail due to the severity of the charges and the case shall be adjourned to the youth court.
The University of Bristol has issued a safety warning: 'The University is urging students to be vigilant after a student was assaulted on Nelson Street in the city centre on Sunday evening. He was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
'The police are investigating and anyone who saw anything on Sunday or who has information is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 5219046796.'
Knife crime has made headline national news over the last few weeks, with 42 out of 44 police forces in England and Wales reporting an increase in knife crime since 2011.
