A spokesperson for the University said: “We have received the very sad news that [...] a second-year undergraduate student [...] at the University of Bristol, tragically died last weekend.

“There is nothing harder for our community than the death of one of our students, and our thoughts are with [the student's] family and friends at this very difficult time. We are doing our best to help and support to all students and staff who have been affected by this news – particularly those who knew [the student].

“We encourage any members of our community who are affected by this tragic news to make sure they contact University wellbeing services for help, as well as seeking support from their own friends or family.”

Most people who are thinking of taking their own life have shown warning signs beforehand.
These can include becoming depressed, showing sudden changes in behaviour, talking about wanting to die and feelings of hopelessness.  These feelings do improve and can be treated.

If you are concerned about someone, or need help yourself, please contact the Samaritans on 116 123.
