Unite Students announce 50 per cent rent reduction for residents

By Eve Bentley-Hussey, SU Correspondent

Since the announcement of the third national lockdown, there has been pressure on student landlords to reduce rent for those unable to return to Bristol this new term - which Unite Students have now done.

Unite Students have announced a 50 per cent rental discount for eligible students for a four week period from 18 January to 14 February 2021.

This will affect students in accomodations such as Chantry Court, Favell House, Orchard Heights, Unite House and Waverley House, amongst many others.

Eligible Students can also participate in a four-week extension to the end of their tenancy at no extra charge.

To be eligible, Students must not be currently living in Unite Students Property, have a tenancy agreement with Unite Students that falls within the 2020/2021 academic year and pay rent directly to Unite Students.

Students must fill in a web form to apply for the reduction, so Unite Students can assess their eligibility.

If students make payments directly to their educational institution, they will only get a rent reduction if their University is offering one, which Bristol now is.
