He will remain as Vice Chancellor and President of Bristol Uni for the next academic year, before taking up his new role as the new President of Imperial College London in August 2022.
Professor Hugh Brady, Vice-Chancellor & President of the University of Bristol, has announced that he will leave Bristol on 31 July 2022. He became Bristol’s 13th Vice-Chancellor in September 2015, taking over from Professor Sir Eric Thomas.
Professor Brady's departure from Bristol comes as he has been appointed the new President of Imperial College London.

In an email addressed to all students, he commented: ‘This has been a very difficult decision to make as leading this great University for the past six years has been a major highlight of my career.
‘I am deeply proud of the progress we have made as a University in this time, with a sector-leading approach to sustainability and civic initiatives; world-class research which is making a tangible difference to people’s lives, and a significant investment in the student experience.
‘Above all, I am proud of you, our students. Your tenacity, intelligence and passion never cease to amaze me. Every one of you plays a vital part in our University community and fantastic city.’
The University has announced that it will immediately begin searching for a new Vice Chancellor & President.
