Voting underway in Bristol SU elections

Voting is currently open for the first Students’ Union election of the academic year at Bristol University.

Voting is currently open for the first Students’ Union election of the academic year at Bristol University.

Bristol students have until 9pm on Thursday 5 November to cast their ballot, with results expected to be announced on Friday.

Students can vote via the Student Union website or by using a fast voting link sent via their University email.

Three chairs of Networks are up for election, including for the LGBT+ Network, the Volunteering & Fundraising Network, the Sustainability Network and the Postgraduate Network, whilst a role as Co-Chair of Postgraduate Network is also up for election.

A position as NUS (National Union of Students) delegate, which will represent students on a national level, will also be decided upon.

Notable candidates for the position include Ruth Day, the current Bristol SU Student Living officer, and Khadija Meghrawi, the Chair of the BME Network.

Other roles up for election include Network events rep, Network social media rep, Network secretary and Network communications officer.

The SU has billed the election as ‘an opportunity to decide who will represent the student body and bring about changes you want to see’ and have cited sports clubs and societies, the SU Living Room and Lecture Replay as significant changes brought about through reps.
