LSTD STYLE

Ahead of Love Saves the Day next weekend, Online Style Editor Hannah Worthington collates all the things you need to ensure you are dressed to impress. From glitter, to funky fashion pieces, bum bags, accessories and the best insta editing apps to download, read on to find a range of style inspo pieces, created by both student run businesses and high street retailers.

LTSD has become a festival fashion epidemic - competition arises to create the most fabulous yet most outrageous ensembles. As ever, our camera roles are brimming with selfies and paradoxically staged ‘candids’ to create the perfect gram, and our brains are already wiring to think of the pithiest, wittiest captions to curate the most likes. Yet several elements go into creating this, and you are not out of time to purchase last minute products if you need to.

We’ll start with your outfit. Nothing is too OTT for LSTD. Want to wear your motel rocks sequin dress? You wear it. Your Dad’s old sweater with knee high socks? Do it. What about your flamingo velvet flairs? You bet. On the other end of the spectrum, very little is also celebrated, so really, anything goes.

UoB student Livia Blackmore is still selling some fabulous sequin bandeau tops over on her depop page, @liviablackmore1. Baby pink, red and mint pastel green sequins pervade her store, as well as my personal favourite, a lycra ‘super funky bandeau’ in a range of fab colours that would pair perfect with flares.

If you’re in need of some flares that offer something a little bit different, check out SAS who featured at the FUZE show this year. As well as her own website, Sophie also lists her pieces on ASOS marketplace. Why not opt for her ‘flower power high-waisted stretch flares’ to turn heads at Eastville Park.

An outfit is never finished without accessories. Embellish your look with some of POMDOTCOM’s pom pom hooped earrings, or some sunnies from Instagram start up noughts and kisses. From psychedelic pink cat eye’s, to oversized perspex aviators, or some classic mini circular specs, be sure to check out this page.

Whilst many may categorise glitter as an accessory - when a festival is concerned, it needs its own sub-section. For some amazing, original mixes that you won’t find in high street shops, visit Jazzy Glitter, run by third year UoB Law student, Victoria. Otherwise, New Look’s mermaid glitter pots always pair well with a pot of vaseline - just as good, and much cheaper than glue.

Footwear wise, who knows what the conditions of the fields are going to be like. If in doubt, rock your outfit with some of Pretty Little Thing’s baby pink short wellies that retail at just £18. If you’ve already paid about fifty quid just to get in the field, you may as well look good in a waterproof pair that won’t ruin your trainers as another expense.

Bum bags are not always necessary, but sometimes helpful, especially if they add to your outfit aesthetic. Again Pretty Little Thing have a fabulous collection of metallic, mermaid and sequin pouches. These veer away from the dreaded ‘fanny pack’ look in style.

And finally for that perfect gram, ensure you have several apps downloaded and prepped on your phone. The notorious Huji is a must, as well as layout if you fancy making a blurring collation of images, or VSCO for some indie effects. Afterlight on setting DUSTY is also a feature on Kim Kardashian’s insta, and Love Island’s Amber Davies feed. About 100 photos in and you’ll have snapped your favourite one.

Fashion, as well as love, will save the day.
